Controller / CFO – Construction – Yorktown – Pay to $200K – Hybrid remote possible – Must be a local candidate
A dynamic and successful construction company is seeking a Controller or CFO (depending on experience) to take its accounting and finance function to the next level!
The CFO / Controller is a hands-on leadership role in the trenches of all areas and functions of accounting and finance; and will lead the transformation of the finance function including enhancing systems capabilities, accounting procedures and structure, and financial reporting and analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Hands-on leadership of daily accounting operations including AP, AR, invoicing, banking, investments, and credit cards
- Perform monthly general ledger close through financial statements
- Manage, analyze, and provide schedules and reports for WIP
- Manage and report on cash flow, debt, loans, and lines of credit
- Take charge of fixed assets, CAPEX, and inventory
- Track and report financial performance of on-going projects
- Automate and transform the infrastructure of a small accounting department including process improvements, systems integrations and enhancements, and employee development
- Utilize forward-looking models and job-cost analysis to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and operating budgets
- Provide timely and accurate preparation and analysis of budgets, financial reports, and internal/external financial trends
- Present regular financial statements and financial and operational reports and analysis
- Enhance internal controls, budgets, financial reporting, and financial management systems
- Act as finance business partner in all areas of the organization
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, new projects and strategies, and regulatory action
- Act as POC for audit, tax preparation, legal, banking, insurance, and bonding; including partnering with CPA firm, financial institutions, and insurance companies and the preparation of necessary financial reports
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with master’s degree and/or CPA highly preferred
- 4+ years of hands-on accounting and finance leadership experience, with proven ability to create a high-performing team and efficient accounting systems and processes
- 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
- Robust construction industry experience required
- Thorough knowledge of all areas of accounting operations, general ledger, financial reporting, and GAAP regulations; with the ability to research and remain current on all relative accounting regulations
- Strong knowledge of job costing and WIP with expert ability to perform project-level financial reporting and analysis
- Exceptional communication skills with strong ability to form collaborative partnerships throughout business functions and create meaningful presentations to all groups
- Advanced computer and systems skills including advanced MS Excel and experience with ERPs, with Foundation experience preferred
- Passion to play a key role in helping a company to improve its accounting and finance infrastructure, with the desire to regularly work in the trenches of accounting
