Full-Charge Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist – Fast-Growing, Multiple-Entities & Industries – Chesapeake – Pay to $72K

Role and Responsibilities:

A well-established, reputable, and fast-growing multi-entity company is seeking a FULL-CHARGE BOOKKEEPER / ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST to join its corporate accounting team in Chesapeake, VA. 

The Accounting Specialist will take charge of all aspects of bookkeeping in QuickBooks for multiple entities in the retail and hospitality industries. This role will also assist the accounting team in corporate month-end close and other accounting and analytical tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Responsible for daily accounting operations in QuickBooks
• Assist accounting department with month-end close and financial reporting such as budget reports and bank reconciliations
• Track payments and expenditures including payroll, purchase orders, invoices, and statements
• Administer unemployment claim
• Process check requests and expense reports
• Accurately review, code, and process vendor invoices
• Prepare 1099s
• Prepare and submit monthly sales tax returns
• Analyze and investigate billing errors/omissions and resolve
• Enter new hire data related to hiring, compensation, and benefits
• Support management in various company-wide initiatives

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• 4+ years of solid experience in all aspects of accounting operations including AP, AR, GL, bank recs, and sales tax returns
• Strong QuickBooks experience a MUST
• Accounting degree a plus
• Property management, hospitality industry, or CPA firm bookkeeping experience a big plus
• Strong experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Exceptional ability to track and reconcile accounting records
• Excellent communication skills, ability and desire to work independently under minimal supervision, ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with strong sense of urgency and commitment to accuracy
• Strong ability to multi-task, keen attention to detail, developed problem-solving skills, and collaborative team focus
• Long-term player, with proven longevity in previous roles and dedication to learning and becoming a valuable asset within the accounting team
