Senior Accountant – Successful, Local Public Accounting Firm – Pay to $100K + Bonus
Role and Responsibilities:
A prestigious and growing public accounting firm headquartered in Virginia Beach is seeking a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT with public accounting experience to join its team.
The senior accountant will focus on all areas of audit and financial statement reviews for companies in various industries; and prepare taxes for companies and high-net-worth individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Participate in all phases of audits including assessing the design and effectiveness of internal controls by performing audit procedures and making appropriate recommendations for remediation of any identified control deficiencies
- Document audit findings and communicate audit observations and recommendations
- Tax return preparation, and tax planning and recommendations
- Prepare and file indirect taxes including sales & use, property, and payroll taxes
- Review and reconcile accounting records
- Review and prepare financial statements
- Create and/or enhance chart of accounts as needed
- Assist with tax audits
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting with CPA highly preferred, or a clear path to earning CPA in the near future
- 3+ years of public accounting experience
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting transactions, general ledger, and financial statements
- Strong interest in both tax and audit
- Excellent communication skills, with proven ability to build rapport and trust at all levels, and a collaborative and influencing communication style
- Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Computer savvy with advance ability with Microsoft Excel
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and manage deadlines
- HUD audit experience a plus
