Senior Accountant – Construction & Real Estate – Virginia Beach - Pay to $80K

Role and Responsibilities:

A successful and growing construction and property management company is seeking a SENIOR ACCOUNTANT to join its Virginia Beach corporate team.

The senior accountant will perform all aspects of accounting with an emphasis on general ledger, month-end close through financial statements, cost accounting, and financial analysis.

Senior Accountant Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Perform month-end close including month-end journal entries, GL and bank reconciliations, and inter-company transactions
• Prepare financial statements according to GAAP including balance sheet, P&L, and cash flows
• Balance sheet and P&L account analysis and preparation of supporting documents
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed
• Construction accounting and analysis including cost accounting
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting, external financial reporting, and audit preparation
• Participate in special projects for department enhancements and company initiatives

Senior Accountant Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• 4+ years of robust accounting experience from daily accounting operations, such as AP & AR, to month-end close through financial statements
• Experience with property development & management or construction industry highly preferred
• Strong knowledge GAAP regulations, and solid experience with all aspects of general ledger including month-end close through financial statement preparation
• Experience in a multi-entity environment a plus
• Exceptional computer knowledge including experience with ERPs and advanced ability with Microsoft Excel, with CMIC preferred
• Excellent communication skills, with desire to work in a complex and multitasking environment, and ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines successfully
• Strong analytical skills, flexible with ability to thrive in a growing environment, team player with a collaborative work style
• Desire to continue to take on new responsibilities as the company expands its operations
